De Karoo … – The Karoo …
Het bed was groot, maar de nacht was kort. Om half zes wekte Matthew, onze ranger, ons voor de ochtend game drive. In onze voortuin stapten we bijna in de uitwerpselen van de buffels!! Die waren dus in de buurt. Zo’n game drive duurt drie uur. Onderweg is er een pauze met een drankje en de rest van de tijd tuur je in de rondte op zoek naar het wild. Na terugkomst is er dan een ontbijtbuffet en gelegenheid om te relaxen bij het zwembad of de cheeta’s te aaien. Een lunch sloot ons verblijf op Aquila af.
Rond twee uur reden we richting Beaufort Wes, het hart van de Karoo, landschappelijk een heel ander gebied, bergachtig en droog. De komende drie nachten brengen we door in Karoo National Park, waar we bij aankomst alweer elanden, springbokken en wilde schildpadden hebben gezien.
Our bed was big, but the night was short. Half past five, Matthew our ranger, knocked on our door to wake us for the morning game drive. Outside our door the dung of buffalo’s was lying on the lawn!! A game drive takes three hours, with a coffee break included. Finding the wild animals is exciting. Back at the lodge breakfast is served and there is time to relax at the pool or play with the cheetas. A lunch concluded our stay at Aquila. Around two in the afternoon we left for Beaufort Wes, in the hart of the Karoo. The next three nights we will spend in Karoo National Park.
