Helaas geen buffels maar wel een paard in de gang tijdens ons ontbijt! Daarna verlaten we de Karoo richting Addo Elephants Park waar we gelukkig weer heelhuids aankomen, want als er hier iets crimineel is dan is het wel het rijgedrag van de Zuid-Afrikaan: inhalen moet altijd of het kan of niet. Dus ook bergop in een bocht bij doorgetrokken witte streep. Na de lunch gaan we meteen op pad en zien vrijwel direct een gevlekte hyena (hier zeldzaam) en twee puppy jakhalzen. De vele imposante mestbollen op de weg doen vermoeden dat er wel een olifant rondloopt in het park. Nou dat is ook zo. Over de mestbollen mag je trouwens niet heenrijden, vanwege de mestkever die met uitsterven wordt bedreigd. De groene begroeiing, die bestaat uit manshoge struiken en boompjes, laat de bruin\/grijze olifanten mooi afsteken. Soms zie je een groen gebied met allemaal bruin\/grijze bulten, dan staat er dus een kudde. De natuur als zodanig is niet zo overweldigend en afwisselend als de Karoo. En voor de thuisblijvers alvast een fijne Sinterklaasavond.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cocky.rikers.eu\/ZA2006\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/11\/uk.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26\" title=\"uk.gif\" src=\"http:\/\/cocky.rikers.eu\/ZA2006\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/11\/uk.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"50\" height=\"25\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Day 13, Monday<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">, 4 December.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Today we leave at 6:15 <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">towards<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> the picknick area, because we still hope to see some buffalo. Unfortunately we did not see any wild animals, but two horses came to join us for breakfast. After breakfast we left the Karoo towards Addo Elephant Park were we arrived despite the average behaviour of the South African motorist. The driving habits of the natives are close to criminal. They overtake in any situation, even uphill and in a curve. After lunch we head for the game area and see a spotted hyena and some jackal puppy&#8217;s. The huge amount of dung on the road suggest the odd elephant around. Well there are many of them. By the way, you are not allowed to overrun the dung, because of the rare dung beetle. The green bushes and trees cause the brownish\/greyish elephants to stick out.
